Word of the Week: Inclusion Barriers

By: Cole

Full Definition:

Inclusion barriers refer to social, institutional, and psychological hurdles that inhibit individuals from fully engaging in environments meant to be inclusive. These barriers can manifest in workplaces, schools, public spaces, and digital platforms, preventing equitable participation and representation.

Inclusion barriers are obstacles that prevent individuals or groups from fully participating in society, workplaces, or educational institutions due to systemic, cultural, or structural factors. These barriers undermine diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts by limiting access, opportunities, and a sense of belonging for marginalized groups.
