Over the past year, DiversifyIT has held a record number of events and other programming, fostered online conversations, and shared dozens of article, book, film and training recommendations. Our subcommittee’s goal is to share this information in a way so that DiversifyIT issues stay front and center, resources are easy to use, events continue to get record attendance, and conversations continue to grow richer and deeper — without clogging inboxes.
We want our website to provide information and tools that are easy for you to find and use to invite others into the conversation. Instead of guessing about the best way to do this, we’d like to hear directly from you – the community!
You will have the opportunity to answer all of these questions, and more!

We know how much you enjoyed our April Brown Bag Lunch on Genealogy. There’s so much more to share!
Please join us Wednesday, June 16, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Our panelist, Alonzo Felder, will present, "How I fIT: Finding your genealogy source code."
Alonzo Felder will take us deeper into understanding where we each come from, which is so critical to understanding our sense of identity and belonging.
As part of this session, participants will get a chance to workshop their own genealogy with consultants present to help answer questions. We intend to use the resources below as presented by Duke University Librarians, Lesley Looper, and Jacquie Samples. Audience participation is strongly encouraged to learn how you fit in history and IT.

While many of us have found it easier to join conversations online while working remotely, we also know large-group Zoom discussions can sometimes be intimidating, especially conversations about race.
Let’s bring it down a bit.
We'd like to get everyone talking, and practicing with familiar colleagues so that these conversations become a little less uncomfortable.
Invite a few of your co-workers to join you in a small group and register for our DiversifyIT workshop, “Inclusive Conversations: Can we talk?” to be held at 3 – 4:30 p.m on June 24.
Pre-registration is required by the end of the day on Friday, June 18: https://duke.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eh8JXS5kAnrxwvY
During this event we’ll break into small groups of 3 to 5 people to talk about a diversity-related topic. You’ll get pointers on how to bring up conversations and how to include everyone.
There’s some pre-work for this event:
