IT Cultural Liaison Program

By: Cole

DiversifyIT is offering a new program called the “IT Cultural Liaison” program. We’d love it if you’d join us in this effort. Read more below and let us know when we can discuss more about scheduling your team’s participation.

What is it?
Does your workplace represent what makes you proud about yourself? We think it can.
Help us to facilitate belonging and inclusion in Duke IT by becoming an IT Cultural Liaison. With this training, you’ll get to learn more ways for building the team and organization that helps you be fully who you are. You’ll become an agent of change against systemic processes that remove your ability to be effective.

What’s in it for me and my team?
This is a chance to go deeper into the specific needs and tools Duke IT professionals need. This is not a general topic training. You will have the opportunity to take the lessons learned from Duke resources, like the Office of Institutional Equity and apply it specifically to our IT environment. We will cover topics like how to manage identity in technology equitably, what it means to address racism with our coding and how to repair the system we’ve inherited that are causing harm with bias.

How much time do we need to invest?
A training cohort will meet for 2 hours, 3 separate times. We suggest doing so biweekly over the course of 6 weeks, but we’ll work with your schedule.

Why us?
Your team was chosen because you model the change that we need to see in IT.
We’d like to support your team by providing resources to help you build deeper relationships with your customers and teammates and increase effectiveness in IT.
We need you!

If you would like to participate, please email us at DiversifyIT-info@duke.edu to let us know how you’d want us to schedule sessions. If you need a meeting prior to scheduling, we can set up a 30-minute call with you to discuss further.

Thanks so much for considering!
